SUSPICIOUS MINDS

2023

Suspicious Minds follows Gina Costigan as Lola, a post-punk Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Ed Malone as Phil (after Phil Ochs), as an Elvis Presley impersonator at a Halloween Rave in upstate New York. Elvis is struggling with his dead Da’s voice that taunts him through his radio. Lola pursues Elvis beyond his own mind-altering perception of a parallel dimension.

This film is unique and the cinematography is Jaw-dropping beautiful.
— WILDsound FEEDBACK Film and Screenplay Festival
Suspicious Minds is a charming, nocturnal romance that combines a jazzy mix of live action, animation and fantasy where characters stumble into that liminal zone to discover who the hell is that stranger, we’re sharing our heart with next to an open fire? An enchanting film told in Imelda O’Reilly’s singular voice.
— Guy Nicolucci, Writer / Producer
Suspicious Minds is a poem on film. A wonderful mix that weaves a cinematic tapestry of magic, desire and longing. Excellent performances by Gina Costigan and Ed Malone, with a sprightly stepping of world champion Irish Step Dancer Morgan Bullock. Deftly crafted by Imelda O’Reillyand lovingly shot by Joe Foley, this is a wonderful escape of a film that will let your mind wander through it’s mystical environs and leave you wanting more.
— Alice Farrell-Pearlman, New York Irish Arts

script and the story that is the real star here.

Blending materials, this retro funky-town film is a whole lot of fun. Greatly enhanced by some lovely caricature performances.
