As an immigrant myself, I thought the issues of identity brought up in Eggs and Soldiers are keenly observed. We leave home to reinvent ourselves. But for many, no matter the distance in miles, the dark ghosts of home are only a few drinks away. The director, Imelda O’Reilly, has coaxed some subtle and truthful performances from the cast. I was particularly impressed by the Brando-like turn from newcomer Deema Aitkin.

EGGS AND SOLDIERS is a story that reminds us that happiness is not a privilege reserved only for the wealthy and affluent. Joy, love and goodwill towards your fellow humans are things that transcend race, bloodline, economy. ‘Family’ is something found in every home where love lives.
